| On November 26, 2003, the REPID team, consisting
of UIC, UNIFE, DB AG, Alstom, Bombardier, Siemens, Chalmers University
and SEMCON, met in Gothenburg, for the final training session
on the REPID software tool. The participants got the first hands
on experience with the REPID application.
The software tool
consists of two parts. One part is the web application to be
used by sub suppliers manufacturers and rail operators. The
second part is the software tool, which facilitates the integration
of product related information from PDM systems into the web
application. The software tool is now significantly improved
taking into account the latest environmental procurement guidelines
developed by the UIC funded PROSPER project.
The REPID software
is a design for environment (DfE) tool aiming to improve eco-efficiency
for rail vehicles. The REPID tool enables the communication
of environmental performance within the industry in terms of
Environmental Performance Indicators (EPs) and it measures
environmental performance in the design phase. The REPID project
is based on a methodology developed in the RAVEL (Rail Vehicle
Eco-Efficiency design) project, both within EC research programmes.
The
REPID software tool will be available for all UIC and UNIFE
members in spring 2004. The second REPID and PROSPER network
meeting will be a good occasion to get to know the software.
The meeting will be in Siemens, Krefeld Uerdingen (Düsseldorf),
Germany on the 30-31/03/2004.
